Guess what happened to me the other night. I was minding my own business on Steam when up popped a window containing the following message:
You've received a gift
from your friend alki [Linux]
Dear Mr. Miblo,
Just spreading the Linux love. If possible, please do the same for another fellow Linux gamer.
A totally unexpected gift from a recently made friend. alki must have found me via the Linux groups of which I'm a member and wanted to send me these games just for using Linux. Such generosity! Would a Ma¢ or Window$ user do anything like this, pray tell? The donation stats for Humble Indie Bundle 9 suggest not:
It's these sorts of things which make me proud to use Linux, the operating system founded on generosity.
Besides playing games or otherwise basking in computer loveliness, this week I have attended my second (and a half) job interview of the year. "Johnnie" Johnson Housing Trust are recruiting a fresh batch of contact centre advisers to work for six months. Training begins tomorrow, so calls must surely be made today.
To distract us from this immense wait let us enjoy my scorecard for the 5780th game of Countdown, the word game and round-up of last week's loving and struggling entries from Tearose and Lucy.
|3||4 3 1 1 9 7 → 827||830
7 × 4 × 3 − 1 × (9 + 1)
|6||25 10 2 7 7 1 → 816||825
(10 × 2 + 7 + 7 − 1) × 25
|9||7 2 8 9 9 6 → 979||—||48|
|14||100 7 4 5 1 3 → 737||737
(100 + 5) × 7 + 3 − 1
